Greek Cont.

The small textured abstraction is the work of a friend, Larry Caveney. I think the paintings work well together.

Greek Paintings

New series, will probably paint about 12 of them. They are acrylic on canvas, most are pretty big, around 4 feet by 6 feet.

Teaching ancient art history last semester, I was reintroduced to Classical and Hellenistic Greek marbles. I fell in love. Besides the sensual aspect of the female form under the "wet" cloth, I adore the whiteness (2500 years ago they were painted). My goal is to create luscious images (a friend is organizing an exhibition called “Liquid Sex” that he's asked me to join).

I started these paintings at a friend’s studio in East Hampton, very close to where Jackson Pollack threw and dripped paint. The backgrounds are from the backyard. They are all the same because they need to be; one-point perspective and misty trees (swimming in the rain) are what the figures demand.

Hiding my Work

Test samples for my new small paintings, which shall remain hidden... unless, of course, you buy one. Then you can look at it.
